I fell ill with the flu last Thursday morning after my last post about running on achy legs (so I was right, I was getting sick, eww). I couldn't even think of running until Sunday morning, so I went out with my husband for his first run and we did 2 miles yesterday. He has a few things to learn about running with me: A) I don't roll out of bed and hit the road. I am a zombie and need time to wake up (especially true if kept up past midnight)! B) We don't go straight up a hill first thing for fun. :P Since I felt good from this run I did some core work and basic strength to go with the short "test" run for the day.
I forgot to mention I also went out on Saturday and got my gait checked again and shoes recommended. This guy at the running store was much better and could tell why I was having plantar fasciitis and in which foot. He suggested a really light stability shoe, so I went with the Brooks Ravenna 2. He did a good job with hubs too and he proclaimed, "I feel like these shoes were made for me" about his Mizunos. I pray he doesn't end up injury prone like me. Probably not, that's my special gift!
Today I was ready to re-do my 3rd week of training since I only got one run done last week before getting sick. The plan was to run 4 miles at an easy pace (12:09) again. Miles completed are positive no matter how much of a shit show it seemed at the time, but this was a pretty hot mess. Why was it bad you ask?
- Went out way too fast and cocky because I was so excited I could run OUTDOORS!
- Felt mentally put out to have to really try to control and slow my roll to soldier on.
- My PF hurt the entire time, but I was controlling the pain.
- In my other foot my toes started to go numb and my calf hurt? What the heck...? That leg never has problems.
I can deal with the PF pain in my arch no problem, it's when other things start creeping in that it messes with my head and I get the "it's okay to walk" devil on my shoulder. Overall, it was a good run. More miles on the books!
Check out my positive splits! 11:18, 11:29, 11:57, 11:58 HA! Told you I had to slow my roll. :)
